Projects & Visions > Cultural Differences, Local Specificities, Global Wealth
27/07/2007

Switzerland combines small size and numerous minorities, protected and represented in a multilevel federal system. Providing services in our home market, it was important to translate the institutionalization of a policy of cultural differences respect into a service philosophy to apply in practice.

Local Action, Global Vision

During last century, culture changed from an elitist privilege to an incredible mass market of cultural product (mainly discs, books and films), completely dominated by major companies mostly American or producing English speaking artistes, being music or movies. In most countries, majors' products lead the market and local artists run behind with more or less success.

Providing news about cultural product, ATC-TLC could create a global content service, thus reinforcing cultural globalization, or adapt the content by adding strong local flavor to the world relevant content.

In Switzerland, ATC-TLC provides those thematic newswires as written, audio and video content to web-portal, mobile info-services, press, radios and VOD/webTV services. Services are provided in three major linguistic regions of Switzerland, German, French and Italian speaking ones, which varies very much from size, power, culture and perceived importance. While keeping a common ground of well-known Swiss artistes or international superstars, we adapt the newswire to their target audience, localizing for each region,.

In 2004, ATC ‘s practices were awarded the European Seals Of Excellence in Multimedia and in 2005, are a major presentation of the Best Practices book published by European Union and its SPREAD program, and had also been selected by FP6-PATENT program to level its best practice in the new member countries.

Localized Content for South American

In South American's countries where ATC builds since two years a local and native content producers' network, ATC will combine journalistic excellence and prices competitiveness with complete respect of regional, cultural and linguistic specialization and launch the brand TodoElContenido.com !

Based on local skills and of know-how, localization will adapt centre of interest, differences in timing, cultural specification and of course, language. The content adaptation process is to rewrite the content, adapting the ton, the flavour and the information to the local context, also by adding and withdrawing some element in the news and relating the information to other local facts or event.

Cultural difference is a wealth! We need to keep them in the information society!
